Turkey Fun and Easy Landscape Step-out #FunAndEasyLandscape #Step-out #DrawingTutorial @ZebraPenUS

With the U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday coming up, it was mandatory that I create a turkey step-out.  It was hard!  Turkeys are a complexly (don't know if that was a word before, but it is now) built creature and deciding what was essential and what wasn't took me a while.

And push come to shove, even simplified you may have trouble with this one.  Birds are all about proportion and even boiled down to simple shapes, you will probably be unhappy until you feel the proportions are right.

I came up with a chart that gives you a few tips on what to think about as you draw your turkey.  Remember - these proportions don't have to be exact.  There's an old saying that 'close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades,' meaning you have to get things exactly right unless the rules or explosive force allow otherwise.  Well, in art both the rules and the explosive force of your expression DO allow otherwise.

Giveaway No. Seven-Hahnemühle Tiles for Tangling #Zentangle #Hahnemühle #YouTangle

One giveaway ends and another begins!  If you haven't entered to win a  block of Hahnemühle William Turner watercolor paper, you can do so here.

I'm doing this a little differently because both the seventh and eighth giveaways are for YouTangle.Art tiles. When this giveaway ends, everyone except the winner will be automatically entered into the next giveaway, so entering now gives you two chances to win.

A quick review of these paper tiles - they are made of high quality smooth surfaced paper that takes pen, pencil, marker and colored pencil well.  Although not formulated for watercolor, the paper accepts light washes with just a little dimpling, and most of that straightens out as the paper dries.  These tiles are great the for Zentangle® artist and others, who enjoy working at a 3.5 x 3.5 (9 x 9 cm) size.
You get 25 tiles in a nice, hinged tin that you can use to store your drawings or other odds'n'ends.  If you are into watercolor, the tins make a nice DIY palette.  …

Review-Da Vinci Watercolor 12-Full Pan Travel Tin #DaVinci #WorldWatercolorGroup #Doodlewash

There is a Facebook group, the World Watercolor Group, and the admin, Charlie O'Shields, created a website community called Doodlewash so that people could interact more easily.  There are all sorts of fun features - beginner's groups, original art stores, a supply store, and forums where you can discuss all things art-related.  One of the fun features of Doodlewash is that you earn DO points when you interact on the group.

Recently, I earned enough DO points that I could get a free Da Vinci Watercolor 12-Full Pan Travel Set.  This is a $56 USD value (more actually if you factor in free S&H), which is already a great deal.  This particular DO item isn't available at the moment, and I don't know if it will be again, but there are other great items that can be earned.

At the moment, DO store items are only available for the U.S. and Canada, but Charlie is working to make them available for other countries as well.

So, today I'm reviewing this cool travel tin of D…
