Icing-Steampunk Tangle Pattern #ZentangleInspiredArt #TangleStarts #TanglePatterns #Steampunk

Since Alice Hendon included twelve of my patterns in her new Tangle Starts Planner: Tangle Through the Year (Artangleology) (Volume 2, I decided it was time to share other patterns that I've been sitting on for a while.
This is a pretty simple pattern but you can do some fancy things with it.  It's something you might see with metalwork, so it makes a good steampunk patterns.

The Friday Fun & Easy Challenge for 1/19/18 - 1/25/18 is to draw a landscape using the Jellyfish step-out.  Calorie-free brownie points for adding a lavender plant or two!

Jellyfish are pretty easy.  They consist of three types of shapes.  To keep things simple, I'll call these a head, tail(s) and tentacles.

The head can be shaped like a half-circle, a bullet, a square - almost any shape you can think of really.  Different species have different shaped heads, and the shape changes as the fish swims through the water.

The tail is sort of like a mass of spilled jelly hanging from the center.  Some species have more than one tail and they can vary in length and thickness.

The tentacles are long whip-like... well... tentacles!  I've simply used squiggly lines to represent them, but they could be thicker if you wanted to add more interest to the drawing.

Don't sweat any of the shapes…

I painted the lid of a Hahnemühle Youtangle.Art Tile Tin that I'm going to use as a travel palette.

And dang it, why does always look as though you're starting well above the horizon line, and then, when you've got it half done, you realize you've placed something right in the center. Pooh!  The rooster in the corner in the embossed Hahnemühle logo. I decided to use it to add to the sense of distance.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I sprayed painted the inside lid with white enamel so I'd have a mixing surface, and taped down 15 full pans. To prep for the painting, I brushed the top of the lid with Daniel Smith watercolor ground.

Now I just have to figure out which 15 colors I want to carry around.

Art for the Lunch Bag.  Today my hubby took a betta fish in his lunch bag. Did you know that the betta fish is actually quite intelligent for a fish? They can learn to recognize people and how to do tricks. Although the males are agressive with one another, they will live peaceably with other species, and females live together with no problem.
