Bird's Eye View of the Rose #Watercolor #WorldWatercolorGroup #Strathmore

There was no watercolor class this week, but we were given homework, asked to paint another white rose using only three pigments.  I used Sennelier Indian Yellow,  M. Graham' Quinacridone Violet, and Winsor Newton Winsor Blue on Strathmore's Imperial 140 Hot Press paper,  The brushes used were Silver Black Velvet 1 inch flat, and size 6 round.

I really like the Imperial paper in all three types-cold press, hot press and rough.  It's one of Strathmore's 500 professional series and although it's rated as 140 lb, it feels almost like 300 lb, so it doesn't need stretching or taping down.

My reference photo came from the Morguefile archive.
