Painting Tin Lids #Watercolor #WorldWatercolorGroup #Tins

A friend and I got together the other day and painted tin lids.  These will all be used as watercolor palettes.

The top one is a Lukas watercolor palette already painted in black.  The bottom was an old colored pencil tin and the small one was a Conté Crayons.  To prepare the tins, I sanded the tops lightly, then sponged on Daniel Smith Watercolor ground.

The ground is very absorbent, so the colors go on more dull than they would normally.  The paintings will need to be sprayed with a fixative, so if I want I can add a little more by using one that glazes.
